Hey ladies. Check out some of the cute shoes I bought recently at this amazing store called Last Chance. There is only one Last Chance in the country and it’s located in Phoenix. They have some AMAZINGG deals and it’s all merchandised from the different Nordstrom department stores around the country. Anything that gets returned or the last of something or simply things that aren’t in season anymore get sent to Last Chance. So imagine the deallllssss. I’ts retail heaven lol
I’ve been on the hunt for a cute fanny pack for weeeeeks now. I get so tired of running in and out of stores while running errands and having to reach for my purse every five minutes (even though it’s on the seat next to me *side eye* lol) It’s one less action I can just do without! Sadly there just aren’t a lot of options out there in the fanny pack department and I just haven’t found one that was worth the money! Sooo on one of my many thrifting adventures I found a couple plain fanny packs that I figured I could embellish and make cute to satiate my desire and my wallet 🙂
I think like all of us fashion lovers and bloggers I’m trying to summon the warmth of spring by faking it till I make it! Back in January I scored a bunch of seriously cute, seriously strappy heels that I’ve been itching to bust out at the slightest hint of sun or warmth.
In true Chicago fashion this cold is refusing to let up! The first days of spring were freezing and threatened with snow. This bi-polar weather has been so up and down it’s hard to tell if we will get spring or jump straight into summer at the rate this is going. 😦
None the less I took advantage of the momentary warmth we had, but as you can see below the chill quickly returned, hence the goose bumps!
Check back soon for my DIY on this neon pink clutch!
On a rainy overcast Saturday morning hundreds of women rolled out of bed to witness all the glitz and glam of the 2013 Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show! Hours before the Michigan Ave store opened we were treated to sneak peeks at products not yet launched to the masses, hot spring fashions and talks from creators and vice presidents of brands such as Jane Iredale and Chantecaille.
Perhaps the highlight of my morning (other than the loads of beauty deals I snagged!) was hearing from and meeting Virginie Courtin-Clarins. The gorgeous and super sweet french granddaughter of, Jacques Courtin-Clarins, founder of the luxury cosmetic giant, Clarins. Not only is she a makeup heiresse, taking a prominent role in development of the brand, she is a fierce force in the fashion world. Her bold and eye catching style has been the talk of bloggers and designers alike.

She flew in from Paris (her first time in Chicago) to specifically speak at the trend show and launch the updated anti-aging Double Serum. I total feel in love with her french accented english, she was totally endearing and spoke to us about the Double Serum. First explaining it’s benefits in the scientific way then bringing it down to earth for us with a cute story about a princess and a prince. Her story demonstrated the five things the skin needs, (hydration, nutrition, oxygenation, regeneration and protection) not only was it cute it honestly helped me remember!
I was honored to meet her after and receive a signed copy of A Beautiful Success: The fabulous adventure of Clarins. All and all it was a whirlwind morning wit lots of goodies and good times.
Some of my goodies 🙂
Last night my mom (Rare Birds Blog) and I attended a VIP shopping and fashion event held at the new Timberland store on Michigan Ave! The event, hosted by Alison Ray of Sassy Moms in the City featured give-aways, personal styling sessions with Eric Himel, and plenty of sweets and treats.
Admittedly the first thing I think of when I hear Timberland, is that classic yellow work boot. I was impressively surprised to find that Timberland has upped the style factor in their shoe collections for men and women, even adding fashion forward scarves, hats and gloves!
I had the opportunity to chat with the store manager, Jeff Palmer, who was incredibly stylish and excited about the new direction Timberland has taken over the past several years. I was amazed to find that there were an abundance of styles for women, knee high and ankle boots, rugged urban alternatives and quite a few with heels and comfy warm shearling which is great in a city like Chicago. I definitely plan to add a pair or two to my closet this winter!
At the conclusion of the night we were gifted with a cute little bag which included a “City in a Garden” Tree seed kit, which is in keeping with Timberlands initiative to help reduce their impact on the planet, a gift card and a luscious textured infinity scarf!
Thanks again to Sassy Moms in the City and the Timberland store on Michigan Ave for a fun evening!
P.S. Check out The Free 365 Blog, a fun stop to hear about all the great events happening around the city for FREE!
It’s DIY time!
This DIY is great for sprucing up an old pair of jeans or to just add some bling to your favorite pair! You can add studs or use colored beads or thread to add some extra edge! Don’t forget you can try this out on the cuff of a jean jacket or shirt or try beading the collar. Your options are unlimited, so get creative!
Happy Happy Tuessssday! Summer is finally over, even though I enjoyed the scorching heat and days spent on the beach tanning I’m in desperate need for some fall fashion! Wedge booties, leather jackets, layering and dark nail polish … it’s all calling me. 🙂 Here is a little tid bit left over from warmer days, this look could easily be transformed into a fall look. A pair of boots and a denim jacket you would be perfectly armed for a sunny yet breezy day.
*of course travel on over to rare birds to check out my moms look!
